A PRAYER FOR LOVE

Do people see in me a passion,
Or merely a routine of goodness?
Do I shine love and compassion,
Or kindly camouflaged rudeness?

Am I a representative of Who You are,
Or of the selfishness inlaid in me?
Do I show that You aren’t far,
Or is my distance all that they see?

Will I be able to make a difference here,
Or will my flesh be my inhibition?
Do I love with love that drives out fear,
Or with a love of condition after condition?

Build in me a pureness of character.
Father, help me shine Your love.
Strengthen me despite every factor.
Guide me with wisdom from above.
