What if someone’s mad at me?
What if they won’t forgive?
Yes, it makes me unhappy
But with it they must live
It ties them up in strings
It causes them to burn
Instead of having wings
They’re tied up, never to learn
And what if I’m mad at me?
What if I won’t forgive?
It also makes me unhappy
And with it I must live
If one is mad at another
It is common to think negatively
But it isn’t such a bother;
We believe more apprehensively
If you’re mad at yourself, though,
It’s another matter entirely, yes
Making your self-esteem low
Is what, then, you do best
The only way it will rise,
Is when you willingly wish you well
Forgive yourself of frequent lies
And from then on them further quell
You will see in you what’s true
Honesty, purity, and loveliness
Things of good report and virtue
Things to be praised and righteousness
But until you take step one,
Proclaiming forgiveness out loud,
Of these you’ll see none
And nothing with which to be proud
