I Will Lift You

Tears hang on the edge of lashes

That was once coated in black, but

With tear wave after wave washes

Was swiped to side in sooty cut

A hand lifted to back of neck

Pressing down, eyes squeezed tightly shut

A muttered word, “For goodness sake.”

A dull thudding in head and gut

A smile, edge burdened with pain

The laugh where a sob is concealed

Silence, for words will show the one

Of the light she carefully shields

God knows she has given her all

Goad knows she`s tried her very best

He knows she`s heeded ev`ry call

She did all she could on each test

She trusted that those she cared for

Would have her best interest at heart

Yet looking at what`s come before

Feels that they have torn her apart

Abba, You know I’ve been trying

I want to help, to serve, to love

But I’ve felt as if I`m dying

Falling off the edge with a shove

I am getting out now, Abba

You have, given me Your strong hand

Told me, “Enough now, Yedidyah.”

You are placing me on dry land

“People continue to fail, dear.”

“They will break you and steal from you,”

“I won`t leave you desolated, hear?”

“I will lift you and sustain you”

The plan I have for you is good

Close your ears to their words, my dove

Listen to My voice and I could

Lead you to My plan of real love

My love will rejoice in your right

And in changing your world to peace

For you, love, I’ll go on to fight

I`ve measured for you a good piece

Behind This Piece…

Sharing Is Caring
